Las Vegas 2000 - Part 4 - Action in the Pits 1

During the competition, I took some time to photograph some of the things going on in the pits.

Jason wasn't going to let Bil Dwyer get away with calling his composite panels wood ever again. Battlebots fun fact: did you know that Sean Salsbury is at least 3 feet taller than Bil Dwyer? Well he is!
Smoke envelopes Mike Regan's robot "Scrub" on the turn-table 'o doom (VR capture table).
Grayson putting the finishing touches on Spinster in classic Battlebots form.
A Rhino sized spike hole in the side of Minion, or the world's largest pinky ring -- you decide.
Sugeon General's warning.
The Bohica Bros at work. These guys knew what they were doing and had a machine of incredible technical prowess.
A couple of tables away, you can see the other end of the Battlebots spectrum as team Entropy gets their machine running. Everyone has fun though, and that's the main part -- even if you do your work on the ground.
Outside the pit tents. Yes, tents. In the evenings it dipped below freezing, which was uncomfortable to say the least.
John MacKenzie was kind enough to let Complete Control use his robot, Ankle Biter, as a test subject.
Team Raptor with a gigantic CNC aluminum jaw attached to their new SHW Tripulta Raptor. Note the custom embroidered uniforms -- snazzy!
