Complete Control Upgrade 2001 - Part 3

By this point the robot was coming together quite well. It has been a while since this happened, but I think that everything on this page happened at the soonest, 2 days before I left for San Francisco.

Painted/stickered up, with clearance for the weapon. Looking sharp!
New front wheel covers (no more flour scoops), and front supports (slightly beefier than last year). Ghetto style East Van logo on the cylinder guard.
Nearly final weigh in, to my delight the robot came in right around 115lbs.
New small, small 4oz CO2 cylinder. This is good for about 10 grab/releases @ 175 psi. Also visble, the external gear mesh with the new gearboxes.
A shot inside the gearboxes. Showing off the fancy red BLING BLING WM Berg spur gear.
3HP peak power output + 1200 rpm output speed + 80% nominal efficiency = 4 pounds. I am very pleased with these gearbox/motor setups.
Close fitting, but fitting nonetheless. Modified Hella switch in the back corner.
Nearly complete robot, looking clean and shiny.
View from the front, classic pose. The old American cylinder hadn't been replaced at this point, but it would come out in favour of a brand new Bimba unit.
Another overview of the nearly completed robot. The front out riggers had not been finished, but would be made pointy.
3:00am self portrait in an elevator after finishing up the robot days before the competition. I am tired at this point.
New armour/old armour comparison. Both are 3/16" Lexan.
4 Victors in a nice neat row. Wiring these things always seems to take forever.
The finished robot it all its glory. Photo by Daniel Longmire/Battlebots.

ON TO THE EVENT!
