Pressure Drop's Team Ok. Really, most of the time I don't have a team, but that's ok. My friends and girlfriend help me out every once and a while ;) to get me places and help me pick up robot parts and the like. They really come into play when we assemble a group to attend the event, at which point they become the pit crew, and I am thankful that they're there to help me out. And remeber, this is me writing all this stuff, so really everything else I say about the other members of my team is purely speculation. - Derek. |
Derek This is me, Derek. I'm nearing the completion of my systems engineering degree at Simon Fraser University near Vancouver, BC Canada. I hope to graduate this coming (2001) spring, at which point I will need to get a real job. I have been building fighting robots for the past 3 years now, and am getting ok at it. My second robot, Son of Smashy won 1st place in the middleweight face-off, at Battlebots 1999 in Long Beach. Aside from building robots and going to school, I try to work on a bunch of other projects that I am in the middle of. A couple of the most important ones are working on my 510 Wagon and the semi automatic transmission that will be going into it. I skateboard sometimes, as well as try to get up to the local mountains to go snowboarding. I like old reggae, dub and ska. I used to play in a punk band back in highschool, and I still like punk rock -- the Clash and the Descendents are two all time favorites of mine. I live in a house with my girlfriend and 3 other guys, it's pretty fun. I really enjoy what I'm doing, and I hope I can keep up with the new surge in this hobby. Thanks for checking out my page, and if you want to know anything else E-mail me. |

Ed Ed is a 5th year chemistry student at Simon Fraser University. Ed wanted to build a robot after attending Battlebots 99, but he realized that has too much of a life to give up the time and money required. Besides school and such, Ed toys with his '67 Barracuda, rides his bike and practices botany. Big thanks to Ed's dad for lending us his Aerostar to get down to SF in. |

Steve Steve aka Stevie Wonder, paints cars for a living at a body shop in Burnaby. Steve helped out immensly in the pits this year and last, and helped me out a bunch by letting me use his welder and other tools. Steve is nice enough to let me join him in SOLO II racing his 1995 Nissan 200SX SE-R. Steve enjoys watching Mr. Show, and painting various objects around the house. |

Gillian Gillian made it to Battlebots this year, and she had a good time. Gill is now in her last year of her Mathematics Honours degree at SFU where she focuses on pure math. She's planning on attending graduate school next year too, as she seems to like the idea of higher education. She helps me by keeping me sane, and when I don't have a car -- she always does. When she's not at school, Gill plays soccer and copes with living with me and my hobbies. |
