Step one in building a robot, is to take an old robot, (here we use Derek's creation from last year, Mr Smashy), and cut it in half along the red lines. No problem! Set aside the remaining aluminum bits for later.

The old drive train was retained for a few of reasons: 1. It worked just fine before, 2. it could be geared down to drive a 100 lb robot, and 3. I really couldn't afford the time or money to build another one.
